We started doing some preschool with Caroline this fall. Her favorite song is "Little Bird, Little Bird" by Elizabeth Mitchell so we thought that was a perfect name for our school. Caroline calls it "Little Bird Pretty School" :-) She loves climbing up into her big chair and working at the table with me. She is eager to learn and loves trying new things. I'm excited to see her growing!
Highlights from month 8 include learning to crawl, taking your first ride in the big girl seat of the cart, standing up with help, and smiling as much as ever!
Six weeks into this year-long project! Some days I love the shots I get, other days they're just ok. I am so glad I am picking up the camera to shoot every day and catching moments that I otherwise might have missed.
With my little helpers in tow, we tackled the dishes and laundry, made the bed, picked up, and vacuumed. It was a busy day, but I enjoyed working together with my girls.
Head over to Jen Faith Brown Photography to see how she documented chores, then continue on to check out the rest of the blog circle.
This was after Julia took her first big girl nap...I laid her down still awake and she fell asleep all on her own! She had a happy nappy! :-)
After visiting my sister and her family, Grammy and Grampy took a detour to stop by for a short visit on their long drive back home. They came early in the morning so they brought breakfast...donut balls, according to Caroline. Wish they could have stayed longer, but I'm so glad we got to see them for a little bit!
It was a pretty hot Saturday morning when we went to the farmer's market. We tasted and bought some yummy peaches and walked down to the end of Main Street to see the trains. Caroline would have stayed all day, but her cheeks were turning pink and it was just way too hot out.
Grampy came for a visit and brought Adon and Gabe along. We had a great time playing Wii, running in the sprinkler, looking at airplanes, going out to eat (and waiting a long time for a table), and just hanging out and spending some good time together.
In July, I joined a blog circle and we documented breakfast time. This month our blog circle is documenting what getting ready looks like. Be sure to check out Stephanie's blog next.
Getting ready is always an adventure with two little ones. It's just more fun to play and move and wiggle and run. And the diapers...oh so many diapers.
Julia's getting pretty quick. She's been starting to crawl so any chance she gets, she's on the go.
Getting ready usually requires a trip to the dryer to find clothes. This time, Caroline left as quickly as she came, leaving Nighny and Another One Nighny behind.
Caroline is becoming quite independent. She still needs some help with her clothes, but she loves to brush her teeth herself. She's actually getting pretty good at the back-and-forth brushing motion. She always informs me "Caroline first" when I ask her to go brush. Mommy finishes up just to be sure we keep those teeth clean and white!
And what girl doesn't need to spend a little time on her hair! Oh that beautiful, red hair!
Head on over to Stephanie's blog to see what getting ready looks like for her!
Eating and sitting and crawling, oh my! Lots going on this month. Sweet potatoes were one of your first foods...I'd say you liked them! You've been sitting up like a champ and you're even starting to army crawl. We had some fun playing around with shadows and the bright morning light.
A few things we know about you:
Good morning, birthday girl!
"Go Shoppin' at Target"
Lunch & Nap
...I wasn't surprised when you asked for a quesadilla for lunch...that's what you have most days. You always take a single bite out of each piece and then eat the rest. You are very methodical. You have been so helpful and are learning to carry your plate to the kitchen and put it in the sink. I'm so proud of you! After lunch, it was nap time. Julia and I came to get you when you woke up. Julia loves to play with you!...
Picking up Daddy from Work
"Birthday Party Balloons" & a Special Delivery
Dinner & Dessert
...We had a long day full of fun so we didn't get to assemble your new tricycle, but we'll do that soon! Reading stories together on the couch was a great way to end the day. Sweet dreams! I love you so much, Caroline Grace! Happy Birthday!!
Caroline loved playing in the water. Julia loved watching Caroline. Fun was had by all! Oh, and those rash guards...seriously...so cute!
Visiting Grandad and Mums means lots of outdoor adventures and fun at the lake. Caroline's favorite game (taught to her by Grandad) is "Splish-Splash." Find some water, hunt for rocks, and throw! She'd play this game all day if she could. Good thing there's no shortage of rocks on the shore. Julia has fun too, enjoying all the cuddles and chit-chats.
We went to visit family over Easter weekend. We had a super early morning flight and didn't quite make it in time so we just missed the final boarding call. We had a few hours before the next flight out so we ate some breakfast, Caroline watched Super Why, and Julia slept. Daddy loved taking the girls on the plane. Caroline made friends as we walked down the aisle to our seats, telling everyone (we're) "on the plane, on the plane..." She loved looking out the window. Julia slept. Both girls were great travelers!
After so many overcast and rainy days we finally had some really pretty afternoon sunlight coming in the windows. Everybody was just waking up from naps so we piled on the bed and I clicked away! Julia squealed and kicked her chubby legs and waved those little hands around. Caroline wanted to get all cuddled in the covers and even got a little upset when I tried to make the bed. The best part...those red pigtails! I can't get enough of them!
