We started doing some preschool with Caroline this fall. Her favorite song is "Little Bird, Little Bird" by Elizabeth Mitchell so we thought that was a perfect name for our school. Caroline calls it "Little Bird Pretty School" :-) She loves climbing up into her big chair and working at the table with me. She is eager to learn and loves trying new things. I'm excited to see her growing!
These two are thick as thieves. We found a really neat alphabet app that Caroline loves. Lately, she's been wanting to climb into our bed, get under the covers, and "play letters with Daddy." Caroline adores her daddy and he adores his little girl.
Six weeks into this year-long project! Some days I love the shots I get, other days they're just ok. I am so glad I am picking up the camera to shoot every day and catching moments that I otherwise might have missed.
With my little helpers in tow, we tackled the dishes and laundry, made the bed, picked up, and vacuumed. It was a busy day, but I enjoyed working together with my girls.

We were getting ready for church one Sunday and Caroline was watching me put on makeup. I showed her how to do the blush brush on her cheeks. There's just something so special about having a daughter. I'm looking forward to a lot more moments like these as she grows up.
Julia was napping and it wasn't quite as hot outside, so we gathered the chalk and headed out. While Caroline explored with chalk, I explored with freelensing and got some interesting shots.
After visiting my sister and her family, Grammy and Grampy took a detour to stop by for a short visit on their long drive back home. They came early in the morning so they brought breakfast...donut balls, according to Caroline. Wish they could have stayed longer, but I'm so glad we got to see them for a little bit!
It was a pretty hot Saturday morning when we went to the farmer's market. We tasted and bought some yummy peaches and walked down to the end of Main Street to see the trains. Caroline would have stayed all day, but her cheeks were turning pink and it was just way too hot out.
Grampy came for a visit and brought Adon and Gabe along. We had a great time playing Wii, running in the sprinkler, looking at airplanes, going out to eat (and waiting a long time for a table), and just hanging out and spending some good time together.
In July, I joined a blog circle and we documented breakfast time. This month our blog circle is documenting what getting ready looks like. Be sure to check out Stephanie's blog next.
Getting ready is always an adventure with two little ones. It's just more fun to play and move and wiggle and run. And the diapers...oh so many diapers.
Julia's getting pretty quick. She's been starting to crawl so any chance she gets, she's on the go.
Getting ready usually requires a trip to the dryer to find clothes. This time, Caroline left as quickly as she came, leaving Nighny and Another One Nighny behind.
Caroline is becoming quite independent. She still needs some help with her clothes, but she loves to brush her teeth herself. She's actually getting pretty good at the back-and-forth brushing motion. She always informs me "Caroline first" when I ask her to go brush. Mommy finishes up just to be sure we keep those teeth clean and white!
And what girl doesn't need to spend a little time on her hair! Oh that beautiful, red hair!
Head on over to Stephanie's blog to see what getting ready looks like for her!
Caroline is eager to help out with chores. She wanted to help Daddy take out the trash and recycling. She did her job well, two Nighnys in tow and all.
"It's the perfect wheel!" she said over and over as she examined the tricycle wheel. We looked at each other wondering where she learned that phrase. It must be from one of her "shows," we concluded. She did not want to give Daddy the wheel when it came time for its turn during assembly. She clung tightly informing us, "It's the perfect wheel, it's the perfect wheel." We eventually convinced our passionate, newly two, Caroline, that we should put the wheel on the tricycle because she would have a lot of fun riding on it. Even after "the perfect wheel" found its new home on the tricycle, almost tearful cries of "want the perfect wheel, want the perfect wheel" could be heard resonating in the halls.
With Caroline's "help," assembly took a little longer than planned, but it was finally time to gear up in her Minnie helmet and take the tricycle for a spin. "The perfect wheel" turned out to be a little squeaky, but hearing the wheel turn as she rode down the hall only completed the picture. The Minnie helmet quickly became a required accessory not only for tricycle riding, but also for coloring at the table, watching tv, eating, and reading.
Julia had her breakfast SUPER early and went back to sleep. So, instead of going back to bed after she ate, I stayed up and enjoyed the dark, quiet house all to myself for a while. But, first coffee...
I sipped on my coffee and unloaded the dishwasher before I sat down to my usual..a bowl of oatmeal and the morning Facebook headlines.
Paul was busy fixing his breakfast just as the sun was starting to come through the back windows. He made his usual...three scrambled eggs, a bagel, cream of wheat, and a cup of coffee. Caroline joined him soon after and had her "bagel-and-ceam-cheese" with juice.
Munchin' on bagels, sippin' on coffee (or juice), and chit-chatting with your Daddy is the best way to start the day!

Good morning, birthday girl!

Lunch & Nap
...I wasn't surprised when you asked for a quesadilla for lunch...that's what you have most days. You always take a single bite out of each piece and then eat the rest. You are very methodical. You have been so helpful and are learning to carry your plate to the kitchen and put it in the sink. I'm so proud of you! After lunch, it was nap time. Julia and I came to get you when you woke up. Julia loves to play with you!...

Dinner & Dessert
...We had a long day full of fun so we didn't get to assemble your new tricycle, but we'll do that soon! Reading stories together on the couch was a great way to end the day. Sweet dreams! I love you so much, Caroline Grace! Happy Birthday!!
All the rain we had this spring caused a lot of flooding. On Memorial Day, we went out to the lake to take a look. Everything was under water...parking lots, picnic tables, and playgrounds. To Caroline it was just one giant puddle for her to "splish-splash" in. She was a little disappointed when it was time to go. That girl LOVES water...just like her daddy!
Caroline loved playing in the water. Julia loved watching Caroline. Fun was had by all! Oh, and those rash guards...seriously...so cute!
Visiting Grandad and Mums means lots of outdoor adventures and fun at the lake. Caroline's favorite game (taught to her by Grandad) is "Splish-Splash." Find some water, hunt for rocks, and throw! She'd play this game all day if she could. Good thing there's no shortage of rocks on the shore. Julia has fun too, enjoying all the cuddles and chit-chats.
Caroline loves to study and observe things. She enjoyed painting, but I think what she really liked was watching the water swirl around in the bowl!
